Filipa Pato & William Wouters Nossa Missão Baga Pre-Phylloxera Bairrada DOC 2024
A true piece of living wine history, Nossa Missão comes from one of Bairrada’s few surviving vineyards of pre-phylloxera Baga vines, now over 150 years old. Produced in exceptionally small quantities, this remarkable wine captures a nearly lost heritage and offers the rare privilege of experiencing Baga in its most historic form.
Winemaker’s Notes:
The “Missão” is remarkable for its very pure expression of Baga! It is our “Royal Majesty”! This is a really special place that we were lucky to find! There are not so many plots of pre-phylloxera Baga vines left in Bairrada. Baga doesn’t get better than this… it will show its real potential after a good time in the bottle.
An exceptionally rare Portuguese red crafted from pre-phylloxera Baga vines over 150 years old. Beautifully expressive aromas of violets and wild strawberries lead to a refined, elegant palate with silky tannins, vibrant freshness, and remarkable purity. Powerful in character yet graceful in texture, with a long, lingering finish. A wine of extraordinary heritage and complexity, destined to reveal even greater depth with time.
Refined game dishes, pigeon, duck, fillet of beef, veal, delicately braised sweetbreads and rich, creamy cheeses.
