Arguably the finest producer in Sancerre and one of the world’s truly great wine estates. Cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominque are perfectionists, and their attention to detail in both winery and vineyard is simply breathtaking. Vacheron vineyards are planted on three different soils, accounting for the pre-eminence of their Sauvignon. Since the wines are vinified and stored separately, the balance of the final cuvée can be adjusted to achieve the best style beforebottling. Biodynamic practices are fundamental to theirphilosophy and the resultantwines are precise, spectacularly concentrated, beautifully detailed and mind-bendingly good!
Produced from a tiny vineyard of young, ungrafted vines, this wine is explosively rich and impressively textured. It brings so much intense minerality and texture from the flint soil to match the pure citrus and white fruits.
The minerality and smokiness are true signatures of this white wine. Notes of white flowers, pear, mandarine, and lots of stone. Saline, really saline. Very long finish.
On the nose, cherry, raspberry, and smoked elements. On the palate, it has enveloping tannins and reminds us of fresh fruit, red fruit, blackberries, currant, caramelized orange zest, and rose petals. Its finish is spicy and a little piquant.
Domaine Vacheron Sancerre is a pleasant wine that is elegant and direct on the nose. It exhales a beautiful ripeness with aromas of white flowers, yellow fruit, citrus fruit, and minerals. On the palate, it is frank, full, mature, and elegant. It is a wine in which the fruit and white flowers dominate but where these are compensated by its refreshing minerality and acidity.
