Viu Manent ‘Viu 1’ 2019

113.00

Tim Atkins 94/100

This is the flagship wine of Viu Manent, made from a strict selection of old-vine fruit from a single vineyard planted over 100 years ago in Colchagua Valley. The blend is led by Malbec (86%) with small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, aged for 16 months in French oak and bottled without filtration to preserve its full character.

A limited, numbered production with strong ageing potential, it represents one of Chile’s most refined and collectible wines.

Description

Powerful and elegant, this iconic Chilean red opens with aromas of violet, red and blue berries, and fresh plum. Subtle notes of orange peel, sweet spice, and graphite add depth and precision.

On the palate, it is structured yet refined, with fine tannins and vibrant freshness. Layers of dark fruit, floral notes, and minerality create a balanced, energetic profile with a long, persistent finish.

Serve at 16–18°C and decant before serving. Pairs well with grilled meats, lamb, game, and rich dishes.
