Gérard Bertrand Legend Vintage Rivesaltes 1949
Amber in colour with brick-red tints, this wine releases aromas of delicate rancio mingling with macerated black fruit and gingerbread. The bouquet develops gradually, becoming warmer and more precise and revealing elegant notes of cedar wood nuanced by hints of honey. On the palate, it is frank in the attack, well-balanced, powerful and suave, with great length.
The First Non-Stop Flight Around the World (February 26–March 2, 1949)
Lucky Lady II, a U.S. Air Force B-50 Superfortress, became the first aircraft to fly nonstop around the world.
The flight took 94 hours and 1 minute and demonstrated the U.S. Air Force’s global reach using aerial refuelling.
